Connect your RideWithGPS account and you can send routes there in one click instead of downloading a file. If your bike computer already syncs from RideWithGPS, the route shows up there: Wahoo, Garmin, Hammerhead, COROS and Bryton. Otherwise, the GPX works everywhere.

Will I get turn-by-turn directions?

Either your bike computer works them out, or RideWithGPS does. A Wahoo ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 or ROAM, a Hammerhead Karoo, a COROS DURA or a Garmin Edge with on-board maps will read the line and work the turns out itself. For anything older, send the route to RideWithGPS instead of downloading it and RideWithGPS writes the cue sheet.

Why doesn't my Google Maps link work in other converters?

Most converters rebuild the route by reading the URL, and a modern maps.app.goo.gl link no longer carries the route's shape, just a start coordinate and a destination address, so there is nothing to extract. This one asks Google's own Routes API to compute the ride again instead, which is why it works on links that come back empty elsewhere.

Why am I hitting rate-limits?

Google's API requests cost real money. In order to provide it free, I limit it to 25 an hour and 100 a day per person.
